Spiritual Gifts
The presence of the Holy Spirit in one's life brings the influences of God; one aspect of this influence is that service to God is directed and empowered through the gifts of the Spirit. Spiritual gifts are mentioned and partially listed in various portions of the New Testament (for example, read 1 Corinthians 12). Understanding the concept of spiritual gifts enables one to grasp that each member of the Body of Christ, the church, is gifted to engage in the mission of our Lord.
A follower of Christ is endowed with a spiritual gift, or gifts, which direct and equip the person for certain emphases and functions in God's ongoing mission. One may be gifted as a teacher, one who encourages, a helper, or one of many other gifts of the Spirit; but each person has a vital function in God's mission, and no one gift is more important than others.
The link below will take you to a Spiritual Gift Inventory; this analysis might give you an indication of how God has gifted you by the Holy Spirit to serve. There are many analyses available, but this one is offered by the Church Growth Institute, as part of its Team Ministry emphasis. This particular analysis discerns the serving gifts, and offers a helpful explanation of your particular gift or gift mix. The analysis is only as good as your answers; be sure to answer not as how you think your ought to feel, but as how you really feel. This will enable the analysis to be more accurate.
