Raise the Banner High!

RAISE THE BANNER HIGH!
Have you had the opportunity to run into Yehovah–Nissi lately? The Lord is
my Banner! If you’ve been around church for a while, you’ve probably heard some
of the great names of God and experienced them to be true. Names like Yehovah-
Rapha: the Lord is my Healer, Yehovah-Yireh: the Lord is my Provider, or even
Yehovah-Shalom: the Lord is my Peace, but have you ever run into Yehovah-Nissi:
the Lord is my Banner? Come on somebody, I need a witness up in here!
When you think about banners you probably think about ballgames, birthdays,
advertisements or even special events. You might even begin to sing “His Banner of
Me Is Love”, “We Want to See Jesus Lifted High” or some other banner song, but
have you considered what the Word of God says about the Lord your Banner?
Exodus 17:8-16 says, The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim.
Moses said to Joshua, "Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites.
Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands." So Joshua
fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the
top of the hill. As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but
whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. When Moses' hands
grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur
held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained
steady till sunset. So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword. Then
the LORD said to Moses, "Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered and
make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out the memory of
Amalek from under heaven." Moses built an altar and called it The LORD is my
Banner. He said, "For hands were lifted up to the throne of the LORD. The LORD
will be at war against the Amalekites from generation to generation."
The Lord is my Banner can go before us each and every day as we choose to
recognize His authority and enter into all that He has for us. Whether we’re headed
into battle or simply need to take a stand in agreement with His Word, Yehovah-Nissi
is our Banner who will go before us announcing to the enemy that God’s people are
choosing to advance in unity and he better get out of the way. Is Jesus your Banner
today? Are you choosing to humble yourself and come into agreement with His
Word or do you want to do your own thing, lift up your own banner and make empty
declarations to an enemy that’s laughing in your face? Let this be the day that you
experience the full power of Yehovah-Nissi. Choose to lift high the name of Jesus
Christ and stand in awe and amazement as the enemy scatters and true freedom is
experienced maybe for the very first time in your life. Join with me today and
RAISE THE BANNER HIGH!
Living Free,
Pastor Chad
